All patients (NHS and privately-funded) need to be formally referred for gamma knife treatment by their surgeon, oncologist or other responsible clinician. A full clinical history and recent imaging needs to be provided. Patients are accepted from consultants working in the UK and abroad.
The London Gamma Knife Centre and Barts and The London NHS Trust have strict criteria which patients need to meet before they are accepted for treatment. All cases referred are presented at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting held twice a month. The meeting involves neurosurgeons, oncologists and neuroradiologists who assess each patient’s suitability for treatment.
